The Ant chair designed by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen is a light and stable basic chair with minimalist form and svelte shape. Ant chair is characterized by its rounded, curvaceous „waist“ based on a simple, technical solution that gives the chair not just its unique form but also stability. The Ant from Fritz Hansen is an extremely comfortable wooden chair and also stackable. It has a chrome base. The Ant chair is a true Scandinavian classic and one of the most prominent icons of the Fritz Hansen furniture collection. Its name derives from the similarities of the form of the chair and of an ant. This Scandinavian Ant chair is available with four legs as well. Originally the Ant chair was conceived as a chair for a new canteen for the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo. However, early on in the project’s development Jacobsen made contact with Fritz Hansen, a company with whom he had worked on projects in the past and who, more importantly, were in possession of the machines and know-how Jacobsen required for the moulded plywood seat.
