The Pirkka Bar Stool is Scandinavian modern and timeless, also a little rustic, which is typical for the 50s. The stool was designed for Artek in 1955 by the Finnish designer and architect Ilmari Tapiovaara, who was inspired by the traditional Finnish furniture of the time. The design of the Pirkka bar stool fits perfectly to the Pirkka furniture collection of Tapiovaara consisting of table, bench and chairs. The Pirkka Bar Stool also looks good on its own at the bar. It is available in brown-black stained, the seat consists of solid pine and the frame of solid birch wood. The bar stool is available in two heights of 65 cm and 80 cm.

Ilmari Tapiovaara is one of the most important Finnish interior architects and designers of his generation. He has received numerous international awards for his work, including six gold medals at the Milan Triennials in 1951, 1954, 1957, 1960 and 1964, the prestigious Good Design Award in Chicago in 1951 and the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1959.
