Combining a lacquered steel shade with a white, chrome, or brass plated collar, this distinctive pendant light from Finnish manufacturer Artek casts a gentle, diffuse illumination when in use. Providing both direct and indirect light, Pendant Light U336 was created by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon in 1948, who would go on to become famous for designing the Sydney Opera House. Jørn Utzon worked in Alvar Aalto’s office in 1946. Eleven years later, in 1957, he designed Pendant Light U336 for Artek in Scandinavian elegant look. This pendant lamp in Nordic design from Artek is available in three versions. In the designing of the pendant lights that form the Artek collection, great attention has been paid to meeting two criteria. Firstly, each light should be seen and must satisfy aesthetic demands, and secondly, the quality of light cast should be exceptional, bright-toned, and diffuse. The illumination the light provides should enhance the space it inhabits. This light from Artek is supplied without a bulb.
