Timo Sarpaneva (1926 - 2006) was a Finnish designer, sculptor and educator and was considered a pioneering, international force in glass art. Its unique, industrial design has been exhibited globally. In addition to glass, he also worked with textiles, wood, porcelain and metal. Sarpaneva's work has been awarded twice at the Milan Triennale and received the Lunning Prize. Having worked with Iittala for a long time, Sarpaneva was responsible for creating the key features in the company's style. So he also designed the "i" logo, which stands as a symbol for Iittala.
